Vision

To create a nation where every child can stand and get counted

Mission

To equip the next generation through education, agriculture, and community empowerment.

Bringing Change To Our Home Community

Growing up, founders Shaka Enock & Patrick Ssengendo never dreamt of going beyond their little village deep in Mityana district. Life only rotated around what the next meal would be and domestic chores everyday. School was a necessity they couldn’t afford.
Then, a miracle happened.

People from the local missionary church identified them and enrolled them in the schools they had planted within the community (Maranatha Primary School & Cornerstone Secondary School). Today, their lives are much better than they ever dreamed because of this opportunity.

In 2017, the two formed Friends for Life as a way to give back to the community that gave them so much and transform vulnerable children’s lives.

Leaving our mark

We set out with the vision to set up self-sustained villages full of loving people, homes, schools and talent centres to help redirect children on a new path. Since 2017, we’ve rescued orphaned and vulnerable children, placing them in loving families. And we’ve come alongside vulnerable women, equipping them with skills and empowering them to be the mothers and leaders they are meant to be.

Our Framework for Transformation

We identify vulnerable & orphaned children in our community and provide a home with a loving environment.

In the future, our goal is to create a village with individual homes for 8 children per home, each led by a Friends for Life mother. The village would also have a school, playground and a talent academy. Here, children have everything they need to reach their fullest potential. That’s how we’re rebuilding and raising the future generation.

Values

  • We see potential in everyone, everywhere
We believe each person has talents & natural skills just waiting to be discovered if opportunity avails.
  • We believe family matters
You cannot pick your biological family but you can pick your emotional one. We are all about forging relationships that help children grow in love.
  • We believe in planning ahead
We are working towards expanding our mission to have more villages, full of families. It is therefore important to work towards self-sustainability with an innovative approach.
  • We live the mission

We are a passionate team driven by purpose and deeply committed to our mission. The individuals on our team all come to the table with various skills and talents and we hope to create meaningful impact in our work together.

Objectives

We are founded on 4 major objectives.
  • To be a social impact organization empowering communities through innovation, entrepreneurship, and talent development.
  • To promote community based health care, nutrition, water and environmental sanitation among people in communities.
  • To empower the needy members of the community to participate in income generating activities for socio-economic transformations of their homesteads.
